Communications Plan

Project Description: THIRD ACTion Film Festival CommunicationsWelcome to THIRD ACTion Film Festival. We are excited to present this opportunity for talented students to develop a communications plan that is both accessible and appealing to older adults and younger cinephiles.Our messaging should reflect our attempts to change the dialogue on aging - across generations.Main Goal:The challenge in this project is to determine how to reach each of our diverse audience segments with the media that will meet them where they are. The other challenge is to change the dialogue on aging through our communications plan.We want to test these media in November, December and be able to employ them to their maximum in the spring leading up to our June festival.

Business Plan

THIRD ACTion Film Festival is undergoing a new strategic plan taking the organization in new directions. This will necessitate a new business plan, including financial projections, audience development, marketing plans....This will involve several different steps for the students, including all aspects of a business plan::Learning about our business strategy to become familiar with our goals, mission, and plansUnderstanding our strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threatsUnderstanding our operations - yearly festival, monthly screenings, partnerships and plans and how to develop themCreating forecasts using Excel (and integrating into Quickbooks?) for sales in the next fiscal year of operation as well as an income projection (conservative and aggressive).Ensuring we have a sound financial plan, including diversified fundraising and an expenses projection based on a clear plan

2 Year Marketing/Communications Plan

THIRD ACTion Film Festival launched it's inaugural festival in June 2018 and has adapted to the Covid pandemic by offering online screenings. One of our long term plans is to tour the festival across Canada.THIRD ACTion, in its first 2 years, was a Calgary based film festival. With Covid, it has become an Alberta film festival as its online screenings are available across the province. It's current marketing/communications plan is Calgary based and we now need to build it out to be Alberta centric. We also need to look to the farther future as we want to tour the festival across Canada so need to start mapping out the path to national marketing and communications.THIRD ACTion also undertook strategic planning in August/September 2020 and the marketing/communications plan will be partically driven by the strategic plan and vision.There is the opportunity for an individual student or group project to assist the Executive Director in the creation of a 2 year Marketing/Communications plan. This would include activities related to:Gathering information on our past marketing/communication effortsAnalyzing our past efforts/strategies as compared to industry best practicesEvaluating the current climate and audience preferencesSetting goals (strategic and financial)Creating objectives that will allow us to meet our goalsCreate a timelineDetermine how we will evaluate our progressThe final goal of this project is a written report that addresses all of the bullet points above.We are looking to have this project undertaken sometime between January and April, 2021.

3 Year Fund Development Plan

THIRD ACTion Film Festival launched it's inaugural festival in June 2018 and has adapted to the Covid pandemic by offering online screenings. One of our long term plans is to tour the festival across Canada.THIRD ACTion has been funded through grants and sponsorship (in-kind and cash) to date. It recently formed a Fund Development Committee, who wishes to take the festival to the next level by creating a 3 year fund development plan that would include the areas of donations, sponsorship (cash and in-kind), grants, social enterprise options, and Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission funding.THIRD ACTion is also undertook strategic planning in August/September 2020 and the fund development plan will be driven by the strategic plan and vision.There is the opportunity for an individual student or group project to assist the Fund Development Committee in the creation of this 3 Year Fund Development plan.
