This project aims to develop comprehensive cybersecurity policies and safety procedures tailored for such organizations. The goal is to protect sensitive data and ensure the organization's digital and human assets are safe. Learners will research best practices in cybersecurity and strategies to avoid being targeted in the first place for small nonprofits, assess the current digital vulnerabilities of our organization, and design implementable safety protocols. This project provides an opportunity for learners to apply their classroom knowledge of cybersecurity principles in a real-world context, emphasizing the importance of proactive measures in safeguarding digital environments. The project will focus on creating a robust framework that can be easily adopted by similar organizations facing heightened online threats.
The deliverables for this project include an assessment and a detailed cybersecurity policy document outlining best practices and safety procedures tailored for small nonprofits. Additionally, learners will create basic staff training materials to educate employees on moderating online threats. An incident response procedure will also be developed to guide the organization in effectively managing potential cybersecurity breaches. These deliverables will collectively form a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy for community-focused organizations.
