Working in pre-assigned groups, students will deliver a set of standard project management deliverables, as well as specific deliverables outlined by the partner agency. Groups will compete to deliver the best product for the same project. At the end students present their findings to the partner agency.
For each Capstone project, students will deliver a standard set of project management deliverables, listed below. Samples of the project management deliverables are in the Project Templates section
- Project Charter: Addresses the Capstone activities, may also serve as a project deliverable
- Stakeholder Register: Describes the stakeholders, may also serve as a project deliverable
- Work Breakdown Structure (WBS): a visual outlining the activities on the project
- Schedule: a visual, showing milestones and dependencies
- Risk Register: not focused on student activities, tailored to the Capstone project products
- Budget: not focused on student activities, tailored to the products/outcome of the Capstone project deliverables
- Project Status Report: produced twice during the term, outlining variances
- Two project-specific deliverables, as defined by the participating organization, e.g. marketing plan, marketing material

Project Examples
Some examples of previous successful Capstone projects include:
- Marketing and communication plan for a non-profit organization
- Business plan for improved technology access for an academic institution
- Implementation plan for a mentorship program
- Web design for a startup company
In these projects, students research different companies and industries, and develop project artifacts that address the organization's specific problem / opportunity. The students have the chance to express their creativity and communication skills, working with a broad base of stakeholders both inside and outside of the participating organization.
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Provide a dedicated contact who will act as the students primary contact over the duration of the project. A secondary contact should be provided as a backup. Students will interact virtually with their primary contact as needed to gather additional information.
Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your project scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
Attend at least three online classes for Q&A session and final presentations.
