PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DESCRIPTION DU PROJET:

The purpose of this project is to develop a new STEM program for elementary school age students. The program will focus on building hands-on projects similar to other EngKidz programs. Development of a program is a real fun activity because it involves coming up with creative ideas to make science fun and interesting for small kids. Students working on this project will research existing ideas, develop innovative concepts and techniques and get ample chance to test out their prototypes before giving them a final project shape.

KEY PROJECT ACTIVITIES/TÂCHES ASSOCIÉES AU PROJET:

• Identification of hands-on STEM projects suitable for the program
• Identification of materials requirement and accessibility
• Development of course outline including identification of appropriate simulations/demos/quizes.
• Design and Development of a teaching/coaching for the program.
• Follow BC Science Curriculum and BC ADST (Applied Design Skills and Technologies) recommendations.

Please note appropriate projects can accommodate most students, regardless of field of study or experience. We may not be able to fill these roles exactly.

• Project team will comprise of 4 students working 70 hours for 7 weeks.
• Students can choose to work on the project individually or in groups of 2.
• Students can choose Science/STEM/STEAM projects of their areas of interest in consultation with EngKidz.

FINAL PROJECT DELIVERABLES/LIVRABLES DU PROJET:

Students will be provided training and weekly opportunities to discuss their concerns, needs and project requirements. Students will also be able to email and/or call the mentors for urgent questions.
