Details

FoxiPrint is coming out with a new division of our company, we are looking for students in IT and UX/UI programming courses that are capable of building an app that will allow users to log their trails walked/hiked etc with showing where they are currently on the trail weather they are doing it in person or from far away.

We will be selling the apparel that goes with the trails associated and generating physical patches the users can receive once they hike that trail, this will change each year with different options for trails and different locations. For the first year we are covering Canadian trails, and USA trails and will increase from there.

We will send postcards digital and physical of what is unique about the trail, if there is history about that trail, or once you complete the trail what is unique about the area.

The app will need to be able to handle payment processing for purchasing the apparel, and the hikes to travel, along with a where to pick up locations as we will have these items in tourist destinations around the country. If this needs to link back to the parent website for payment that is fine as well.

Users will need to be able to have their own profile created with a history of areas travelled.

This app will be Similar to the Conqueror Challenges but different. please see their website for a basis of what we will be doing.

Project Overview:

FoxiTrail is a mobile application will be designed to help outdoor enthusiasts log and track their hiking and walking trails, both in person and virtually. The app will allow users to explore various trails across Canada and the USA, purchase apparel associated with those trails, and receive physical patches as rewards upon completion. Additionally, the app will provide unique postcards with historical and interesting information about each trail. The project will involve developing both an iOS and Android app, integrating with pedometer apps on users' smart devices, handling payment processing, and creating user profiles.

Key Features:

  1. Trail Exploration: Users can browse and select from a variety of hiking and walking trails in Canada and the USA.
  2. Real-time Trail Tracking: The app will have GPS integration to track users' progress on the selected trail in real-time.
  3. Virtual Trails: Users can participate in virtual trails from anywhere, logging their walking or hiking activities using pedometer apps on their smart devices.
  4. Apparel Purchase: Users can view and purchase exclusive apparel associated with the trails they explore.
  5. Trail Completion Rewards: Upon completing a trail, users will receive physical patches to commemorate their achievement.
  6. Trail Information and Postcards: The app will provide unique information about each trail, along with digital and physical postcards featuring interesting facts and history.

  9. User Profiles: Each user will have a personalized profile showcasing their hiking history, achievements, and completed trails.

Technical Requirements:

  1. Platform: The app will be developed for both iOS and Android platforms.
  2. Pedometer Integration: The app should be able to connect with various pedometer apps on users' smart devices to track virtual trail activities accurately ie Health, Google Fit, Adidas, Under Armour or smart watches, garmin etc.
  3. GPS and Mapping: Integration of GPS and mapping services to display real-time trail progress and guide users on the trails.

Deliverables

Development Approach:

The internship project will follow an Agile development approach with weekly sprints and regular check-ins with mentors. Students will work in small teams with clearly defined tasks and goals.

Deliverables:

  1. Project Proposal: A comprehensive project proposal outlining the app's scope, features, and technical requirements.
  2. Design Mockups: UI/UX design mockups to illustrate the app's layout and visual elements.
  3. Minimum Viable Product (MVP): A working prototype of the app with core features, including trail selection, virtual tracking, and basic payment processing.
  4. Final App: The completed iOS and Android apps, fully functional with all the specified features implemented.
  5. Documentation: Technical documentation detailing the app's architecture, APIs, and instructions for future maintenance.
  6. Presentation: A final presentation showcasing the app's features, development process, and future enhancement possibilities.

Conclusion:

The FoxiTrail internship project aims to give students hands-on experience in building a real-world mobile application that combines outdoor exploration, virtual challenges, and e-commerce functionalities. The app will encourage users to embrace a healthy lifestyle while exploring and appreciating the beauty of various trails.

Welcome to FoxiPrint,

We are a marketing and advertising agency specializing in luxury and highly unique print marketing. When I created FoxiPrint I wanted the agency to be a place where we were your one stop marketing and advertising shop, with highly unique product offerings.

Our motto is If you can THINK it, we can PRINT it! We started small, and rapidly grew to where we are now. We just added on a whole apparel side to the company this summer, and it’s exploding. We do not cater to every customer; we are positioned to the higher-level companies looking to stand out from their competition with very unique printing materials such as our lenticular business cards. https://foxiprint.com/all-products/ols/products/4d-lenticular-business-cards
