Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Program Research and Development. Research is demonstrating that yoga, meditation and mindfulness practices can improve our quality of life, change our moods, behaviours and state of mind. We are interested in creating programming that is directed to at risk youth and particularly in our indigenous youth. We would like to create a research paper that share current research on the subject, research avenues to establish this programming and write proposals to implement this programming. Students would be partnered with the founding director and another yoga teacher in developing all elements of this project.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
  • meet with our team, orientation to our communication style and resources
  • orientation to the project and goals of the project
  • academic research - researching the medicine wheel and the meaning of each of the directions, and the sky and earth. Research common threads through Indigenous peoples and healing, medicine practices. Work with subject matter expert to determine other research goal and objectives.
  • academic writing - create a wire frame for the course. Write informational parts of the course as per interest and ability.
  • regular meetings to discuss the project and progress
  • work with subject matter expert to development of a "teachable" course pack
  • liaise with social service agencies for feedback on course content, priorities for different age groups and how to deliver this course to at risk youth
  • write proposals to social service agencies, schools and community organizations to share this course.
