**PLEASE READ** Project Eligibility & Requirements: To be eligible for this project Learners must have previous experience in creating digital illustrations over various mediums, including (cartoons and other illustration styles) using various digital mediums and illustration creation software. Learners must be able to create illustrative designs based on concept descriptions and or images. 


PROJECT SCHEDULE: Learners are required to attend One 40 min mandatory weekly meeting. Meeting hours are between 3:30pm-6:30pm EST/1:30pm-4:30pm MT/12:30pm-3:30pm PDT. Learners must be able to commit at least 10 hours per week for project work.




Deliverables

SCOPE:

We are looking for dedicated experienced Illustrators, to help create illustrations for our children's books. We are looking to have full colour pages illustrated as well as Book covers and idea conceptualization. You will be assisting our organization in developing a variety of different illustrated pages, designs and concepts for our soon to be published children's books. Illustration will be cartoon style as well as various other formats, using digital mediums.


The following tasks during the project will be:

•Illustrating full book pages based on landscape and character design concepts.

•Illustrating full page book covers based on landscape and character design concepts.

•Creating draft illustrations based on concept ideas for multiple book series.

• Creating illustrations for other books and other book designs


PROJECT GOALS/DELIVERABLES: Final Deliverables to be determined but can include:

  • Each Learner will be responsible for illustrating full book pages and covers set amount TBD.


Mentorship

Learners will be supervised during their internship through Zoom and other online work sharing platforms, specifically during working hours. Learners will be guided and mentored by our senior project manager along with our student Project Manager as well. They will have access to our Senior project manager, any time needed during business hours by phone/email and after business hours through email. Learners will also have the option of connecting with their student project manager for support during the duration of the internship.


Learners will also be given all needed concept designs and descriptions to help create the necessary illustrations. Further descriptions and details will also be provided when needed.

The Building Black Youth Foundation (B.B.Y.F.), is a not for profit children's organization and social enterprise, geared to providing children cultural based learning opportunities and educational support for Black/BIPOC(but not limited to) children/youth and families across Canada. B.B.Y.F. is starting with virtual Early Childhood Development programs, supports for families and learning opportunities specifically geared towards teaching an afrocentric uplifting curriculum, building self worth through learning ancestral and historical knowledge. Our mission at Building Black Youth Foundation(B.B.Y.F.), is to empower our Black/BIPOC(but not limited to) children/youth, help them build their self worth and self belief, through learning uplifting historical, cultural knowledge. We know that positive cultural reinforcement from a young age, greatly increases the process of building self worth within children, as well as supports leading them in the right direction towards a great future.
