Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

The J Healthcare Initiative is anticipating significant growth in our harm reduction services over the next five years. As an organization run entirely by volunteers, we need to ensure we have the right structure and volunteer roles in place to manage this growth efficiently. With your help, we aim to modify our current organizational structure to best support our expanding harm reduction services while maintaining our volunteer-based model.

Final deliverables should include:

  1. A comprehensive proposal including all research, the gap analysis, the updated volunteer-based organization chart, and proposed solutions for expanding our harm reduction services.
  2. A 20-minute presentation outlining the findings and recommendations.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Tasks may include:

  1. Research our existing volunteer structure and role needs by analyzing our current organizational chart and interviewing key volunteers across different harm reduction programs.
  2. Generate a projection for volunteer needs in the next five years, considering the expansion of existing services and potential new harm reduction initiatives.
  3. Conduct a gap analysis for the skills and volunteer positions that will be needed to support our growing harm reduction programs.
  4. Develop a proposal for reconfiguring our current volunteer-based organizational structure, including research findings, the gap analysis, an updated organization chart, and proposed solutions tailored to harm reduction service expansion.
  5. Create an updated organizational chart that reflects the recommended changes and supports our harm reduction mission within a volunteer-based model.

By the end of the project, students should complete the following activities:

  1. Researched our existing volunteer-based organizational structure, focusing on how it supports our current harm reduction programs.
  2. Generated a volunteer role projection for our needs in the next five years, considering the growth of various harm reduction services.
  3. Conducted a gap analysis for skills and volunteer positions needed to support expanded harm reduction initiatives.
  4. Developed a proposal including all research, the gap analysis, the updated organization chart, and proposed solutions specific to harm reduction service growth within a volunteer model.
