This project, with the Antarctic Institute of Canada (AIC), will begin following a detailed kick-off meeting and orientation. The project focuses on enhancing the operational aspects of AIC, a non-profit organization engaged in research activities, academic mentorship programs, and equity building. The role of the Organizational Operations Intern will involve delving into the operational intricacies of the Institute, helping to optimize processes and improve efficiency. During the position, interns will gain hands-on experience in operational management, process optimization, and the implementation of effective organizational strategies. This role is critical in supporting the AIC's mission of conducting impactful research and providing academic mentorship. Deliverables

To achieve the project goal, students must attend the kick-off meeting for clear guidelines and expectations. They will be required to select or be assigned a specific topic, followed by thorough research on the subject matter. Participants will produce a finalised deliverable of a minimum 4500 words. Your work will need to be uploaded to the Riipen platform in PDF format and uploaded in the google drive in the Central Working Document provided to you at the start of the project. Continuous communication with the AIC team for feedback and guidance is essential throughout the process.

The Antarctic Institute of Canada is a non-profit Canadian charity organization founded by former Antarctic researcher Austin Mardon in 1985. Its original aim was to lobby for the federal government of Canada to increase the extent of Canadian research in the Antarctic. However, AIC slowly diversified and initiated programs for students to publish Antarctic research in newspapers and academic journals. These days, the AIC supports academic writing, research, and multimedia in many fields, expanding far beyond the organizationโ€™s original focus on Antarctica.
