Details

SISA Energy is an innovative energy auditing company with a mission to help reduce greenhouse gases produced by buildings. SISA is a startup that pushes the boundaries of energy performance improvement in the building sector. With engineering and data science expertise on board, we offer optimized energy solutions for every project's needs.

Our company would like to standardize data collection and automate the energy auditing process. By incorporating common terms or data formats in our product, it will be much easier to collect, store, analyze, visualize, and share them with stakeholders at different stages of building design and operation.

This will involve:

  • Conducting background research on our product.
  • Identifying what techniques and tools are available for building data standardization
  • Mapping the current data terminology and formats with the available standardized databases available.

Deliverables

In this role, students will mainly focus on exploring the available standard databases and tools. Also, they will get familiar with the SISA product. They will work directly with a team of energy engineers and software developers who will constantly help them grow their skills. Based on their expertise and interests, they might be exposed to other tasks, including:

  • Exploring the strategies for data collection
  • Automating the data collection, analysis, and visualization
  • Collecting data from buildings
Mentorship
  • We will provide the students with a complete walkthrough of our current product and business so the student will have the necessary information to succeed in this project.
  • Students will work closely with the primary project manager, who is supervising and available for questions. This will also include occasional progress meetings, during which adjustments to the students' tasks and duties can be made if necessary.

We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • Current product understanding.
  • Industry-standard tools and approaches.
  • Input on choices and problems.
