research data-driven decision making healthcare analytics data visualizationThe project is to analyze the emerging drug adulterants in the illicit opioids and stimulant supply in Canada and the U.S. The main goal is to use regression model to visualize projected fatalities due to these potent adulterants. Students are expected to analyze highly heterogenous data and simplify it for the public and policy makers. The outcome of this project is that students understand the complexity and the urgency of the current toxic drug crisis in North America and can help us present this context in a way that policymakers and public understand.
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
- Research on different potency metrics of adulterants and gather data on emerging drug adulterants in the illicit opioids and stimulant supply in Canada and the U.S.
- Improve our recently developed regression model to visualize projected fatalities due to these potent adulterants.
- Analyze the data and interpret the results to understand the impact of the emerging drug adulterants on fatalities.
- Create a comprehensive report outlining the findings and recommendations based on the analysis.
- Present the findings to the The J Healthcare Initiative.
Access to data and guide on the new psychoactive substances and adulterants, weekly or bi-weekly meetings, access to different databases from the drug checking labs
