Bring on learners from Salem State University to be your learner-consultants, in a project-based experience. Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.
Learners in this experience:
A. Understand the types of operations and logistics/supply chain problems encountered in managing a business, government or non-profit organization, either manufacturing or service oriented.
B. Apply critical thinking and the appropriate business analytical techniques to common problems encountered in various cultural and global business settings.
C. Demonstrate an understanding of the increasing importance of sustainability and its close relationship with many essential functions of operations and logistics/supply chain management.
D. Demonstrate an understanding of and appreciation for the ethical/legal environment encountered in operations and logistics/supply chain management.
E. Use analytical thinking and reasoning skills as applied to operations and logistics/supply chain management problems using innovative Excel based quantitative techniques.
F. Implement effective communications and interpersonal skills in problem solving.
G. This experience is delivered by business problem solving or strategy development related to Sustainability in operations and logistics/supply chain management.
Deliverables are negotiable, and will seek to align the needs of the learners and the organization.
Some final project deliverables might include:
- A 10-15 minute presentation on key findings and recommendations.
- A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations.

Project Examples
Learners in groups of 3-5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.
Project activities that learners can complete may include, but are not limited to:
- Learners will be able to research on company competitors and identify opportunities to promote environmental sustainability.
- Learners will be able to recognize corporate social responsibilities and propose recommendations on making decisions in social sustainability.
- Learns will be able to apply analytical and data science skills to reduce cost and increase profit in logistics/supply chain management to ultimately achieve economic sustainability.
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Be available for a quick phone/virtual call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the experience.
Provide a dedicated contact person who is available for weekly/bi-weekly drop-ins to address learners’ questions as well as periodic messages over the duration of the project.
