Students at from Cape Breton University will work on organizational leadership issues for your organization.

Through their studies, students have delved deeply into the phenomenon of leadership by discussing major leadership theories, boundary conditions of those theories, and by considering practical techniques for implementation. Students have also covered key leadership theories, ethics in leadership, leadership development, succession planning, and gender and leadership

Students will be able to think critically about organizational leadership phenomena and will be able to analyze typical organizational leadership problems and develop solutions in a project for your organization.

Through this project, students will focus on the leadership development aspect of your organization, and will be able to support you in subjects which include but are not limited to:

  • Hiring: Assess current hiring practices and recommend processes to increase the likelihood of hiring candidates that can perform the job and fits in with the culture of the organization.
  • Training: Assess training gaps and develop a training program to address these gaps.
  • Scaling / Managing Growth: Recommend policies, procedures and other structural changes to allow the organization to grow in a sustainable and effective manner.
  • Motivation: Understand what motivates the organization’s employees and recommend how to improve employee motivation and performance.
  • Culture Audit: Examine the current culture of the organization and recommend ways to strengthen the positive aspects of the culture and minimize the negative aspects.
  • Communication: Understand how information flows within the organization and make recommendations to improve communication flows to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Over-reliance on the Business Owner: Create the policies, procedures and structural changes needed to allow an owner-operated small business to run more autonomously.
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

A representative of the company will be available for a pre-selection discussion with the administrator of the course to review the project scope.

A representative of the company will be available to answer questions from students in a timely manner for the duration of the project.
