Overview
Learner goals and capabilities

SAIT School of Business degree students are required to complete either the six credit business practicum or parallel business capstone course.

The capstone course includes students from all six majors: Supply Chain, Accounting, Financial Services, Human Resource Management, Marketing, and Management. Students form cross-functional groups to work on real-world industry-sponsored projects that have the primary premise of developing business solutions by using design thinking methodology (customer empathy, problem identification, ideation, prototype and test). Solutions need to fit the company's core business and mission.

Potential partners are required to present the challenge and be open to solutions that students evolve through their 180 hrs of work. Consistent touch points are required throughout the semester to allow for real-time feedback and project navigation; time requirement on average is one hour per week over 15 weeks.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Showcase presentation of the final idea. Condensed written report of student's solution.

At SAIT our intent is to prepare students for the world of work by developing their problem solving and critical thinking skills. We look forward to working with companies that are experiencing a challenge or innovating in their industry, our students will be pushed by experienced faculty members to push the current constraints and investigate creative solutions.
